A new study shows that sildenafil, a compound medication for treating erectile dysfunction, is more effective than tadalafil for those who suffer from high blood pressure and angina. The findings are based on the results of an observational study of blood pressure in men who are prescribed sildenafil, a drug similar to Viagra. “The study shows that the use of sildenafil (the generic name for Viagra) increases blood pressure, but that the drug is not as effective as Viagra in lowering blood pressure,” said Dr. Steven Nissen, professor of pharmacology and medical statistics at New York University’s College of Medicine and director of the American Medical Association’s National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s Blood Pressure and Diabetes Institute. “This is the first study to show sildenafil’s ability to lower blood pressure, but it’s not as effective as Viagra.” Sildenafil was approved in 1998, but the drug was not licensed until 2002. Viagra was approved in 2003, but tadalafil was approved in 2006. “In this study we show that the use of sildenafil, which is a phosphodiesterase inhibitor (PDE-5 inhibitor), is more effective than tadalafil in lowering blood pressure,” Nissen said. The study did not show that sildenafil or tadalafil were superior to Viagra to lower blood pressure. “However, it’s important to note that sildenafil may have side effects such as dizziness, headache, flushing, and stomach pain.” The drug was originally intended for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, but the FDA has approved it for other conditions, such as pulmonary arterial hypertension and high blood pressure.
Sildenafil, a generic name for ViagraA new study shows that sildenafil, a compound medication for treating erectile dysfunction, is more effective than tadalafil, the brand name for the drug.
The study was presented in the March 10-11, 2007, edition of The New England Journal of Medicine. The researchers looked at blood pressure and sexual activity among men who had been prescribed sildenafil or its generic equivalent, sildenafil plus nitroglycerin. Their analysis showed that there was no significant difference in blood pressure between the two groups, but tadalafil was slightly more effective than sildenafil. “Sildenafil is a safe drug, and it is also not as effective as the brand-name drug Viagra,” said Nissen.
The researchers also compared the results of the sildenafil and sildenafil plus nitroglycerin groups. “There was a slightly higher reduction in blood pressure among the sildenafil group than the tadalafil group, but this was not statistically significant,” said Nissen. “There is a need for better and more consistent dosing to increase the effectiveness of the drugs.”
Nissen said the researchers found that the combination of sildenafil and tadalafil reduced blood pressure in men, but not in men who had low blood pressure. “The most common side effects of sildenafil were dizziness and headache,” Nissen said. “Sildenafil should not be used by people with cardiovascular disease.”
The research is the first to report that sildenafil and tadalafil are effective in lowering blood pressure, and the study was funded by Pfizer, a leading pharmaceutical company that makes Viagra. Nissen, who received a B. A. from the University of Chicago, is currently conducting the study.

New Study of Blood Pressure in Men Who Are Pregnant and BreastfedThe researchers analyzed the data from the study published in the June 5, 2007, edition of the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Circulation. The researchers used data from the 2003, 2004 and 2005 AHA Cardiovascular Study to look at the effects of sildenafil, tadalafil, or placebo on blood pressure and heart rate.

Your doctor may suggest a daily lower dose for BPH treatment, depending on what works best for you. (e.g., your dose may be lower if you take 50 mg of tadalafil daily rather than 100 mg).

A man who was diagnosed with severe erectile dysfunction after taking Viagra for several months is now being prescribed a generic version of the pill for the treatment of his sexual problems.
The doctor said he had prescribed the medication for about a month.
He told Health Canada that he had noticed a "very positive" reaction from the doctor.
The man was told to stop taking the medication and asked for a prescription.
He was given two tablets of Viagra and said he felt great. The doctor told him to stop taking the medication for about a week.
He then went back to taking his tablets and said he felt great. He told the doctor he thought he was taking the medication for erectile dysfunction.
"I told the doctor that I felt great for a couple of weeks but that I had been taking it for more than three months," he said. "I didn't really know why I felt great but I thought I was taking the medication. I felt great and I didn't have any complaints at all. I felt great again, that's what happened. I felt great again, and I wasn't taking it again."
The man has now been prescribed the generic version of Viagra for the treatment of his sexual problems.
He was told he can take the generic version, but no other drugs are available. It is possible that the man has suffered some side effects.
He has told the doctor he does not want to go through the process of going through the Viagra treatment alone because he thinks his erectile dysfunction can be caused by Viagra.
In addition to taking Viagra, he is also taking the treatment of erectile dysfunction, as well as an injection of a drug that prevents an erection that is caused by the lack of blood flow to the penis. He is now taking the medicine to help prevent a prolonged erection that lasts longer than four hours.
He said he feels great, but he does not have any problems with his sexual side effects.
He said he has a strong libido and has had a very long time of having sex.
The treatment of erectile dysfunction does not cure it, but helps the man maintain a healthy erection.
Dr. James Hirsch, the clinical director of the Centre for Sexual Health at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Toronto, said it is important for patients to have the support of their physician. "The fact that they are taking Viagra for erectile dysfunction may not work for everyone, and there are a few things that you can try to control."
A doctor's note submitted to Health Canada said he has no knowledge of the patient's treatment and would not be taking any prescription or nonprescription drugs.Hirsch said the patient was treated for a very serious condition, but he did not want to comment on his experience. He said he has also heard of other people having erectile dysfunction, but he is concerned he did not have a good reaction.
Hirsch said the patient has been taking the drug for a few months and was told it would take about four months to see the effects.
"For the vast majority of men, erectile dysfunction doesn't cause them to have problems," he said. "The fact that it can be caused by Viagra is not a cause for concern."
But Dr. Jean-Pierre Garnier, an associate professor of urology at the University of Montreal, said he had no idea what his patient was experiencing. He said he would not comment on the patient's reaction.
He said it was not clear whether the patient had any of the symptoms that are associated with Viagra.
Garnier said his patient had a very good sex life, but it was not enough to overcome the problem.
He said the patient's symptoms had also worsened. He said he was unable to have a normal sex life.
He said the doctor had a very good erection and he did not have any complaints from the symptoms of the problem.
Hirsch said he has not seen a patient who has been treated with Viagra. He said there is no way to know how he will respond to taking the medication.
He said he is waiting for a decision.
In a statement, Health Canada said the patient is being treated for a very serious condition, but he did not want to comment on his experience. The patient was told to stop taking the medication and told to go back to taking his tablets.
A patient's note submitted to Health Canada said Hirsch said he is taking Viagra to treat erectile dysfunction.Men in the UK should not take Viagra, or any other erectile dysfunction treatment.
A recent report in theJournal of Sexual Medicineby experts suggests that men in the UK should be advised to only buy Viagra online from a trusted source, as some sites may be selling counterfeit or substandard products.
This is because the risks of counterfeit or substandard products can be considerable, with a high incidence of men being put at risk of side effects, including erectile dysfunction, and taking more than the recommended dose of Viagra could be dangerous.
The report found that over 80% of men taking Viagra or any other erectile dysfunction treatment had problems with their erections, and over 60% of those taking Viagra had problems with their erections.
This risk is higher in men who take the medicine for any other condition, with the risk of side effects also higher for men who take Viagra for erectile dysfunction.
The report concluded:
“The fact that Viagra has been made available for sale online in some countries and that many men have been advised to only buy it from trusted sources is evidence of what is wrong with the health of the UK men in the bedroom.
“Men should consult their doctor before taking Viagra, and it is not recommended that you buy Viagra online from a trusted source, as this can be dangerous.
“Men should not take Viagra or any other erectile dysfunction treatment.”
The link between Viagra and ED is not clear, but the NHS says it has found no association between Viagra and ED.
The NHS says it has found no link between Viagra and ED.
The NHS says that the NHS is not recommending that men take Viagra to treat erectile dysfunction, but men who have been prescribed Viagra should consult their doctor before taking it. Men who have used Viagra before should consult with their GP, the NHS says.
